Is It Necessary That You Buy Travel Insurance?

Cheap travel insurance has been offered years ago but isn't typically the first topic an agent would talk about.  Agents felt that although it was good to offer but in many instances they were having second thoughts in offering it.  They did not want to appear as if they were fishing more money from the customer, and they didnt want the client to feel as if there was something wrong.  By mentioning the insurance, they believed it gave the customer the idea that something was unsafe about where they were going, or the airline they were booking with.

After the 9-11 incident, everything changed.  People are being more careful and anticipate to have cancellation of their flight because of some problems, and they fear anything that is related to terrorism.  As a result, a lot of Americans invested on travel insurance and so the purchasing of travel insurance has increased by 10%.   The highest percentage of those that do get travel insurance arent those are flying either.  70% of the people who take cruises do get travel insurance.  It is best to seek out the cheapest annual travel insurance.

While many people choose to not buy travel insurance, many don’t know that they can get travel insurance, coverage for their baggage, and medical evacuation coverage.  There is another type of travel insurance that actually is concealed by the airports, and they are hoping that most don't become educated enough to purchase it, but its referred to as excess valuation.

Excess Valuation is something that holds the airline responsible to replace the value on any bags you check if they end up lost or damaged.  The last thing heard about this was that they were demanded to give back for up to $3300 in baggage for any traveler.  This would cover any domestic travel, but the international rate is a bit different. The international rate on excess valuation is between $9-$10 per pound, so be sure to check with your airline.
